Quilty 365 Update for August

It's been a while since I checked in but I thought I would post my progress with Quilty 365.

Here are my August blocks on my brand-new design wall.
Linking up to Quilty 365.

I am glad to finally get a design wall up. I used the tutorial at The Quilting Edge. I neglected to use the basting spray as recommended and I now wish I had but overall I am very pleased with it. I was able to use some long narrow scraps of batting which makes me happy. I have a couple more pieces of the foam board that I could use to add to the wall as soon as I accumulate a few more batting scraps.

Here is a the whole design wall as it stands today.
Since the last time I posted, I have also completed a big board ironing station with storage underneath.
Please ignore the messy room. I used some storage cubes that I already had and a partial sheet of plywood that we had in the basement. I enlisted the hubby to cut the plywood to size and to add some narrow boards to the underside to hold it in place on the cubes, then I went to town with some batting, fabric, and a staple gun. I am pleased with the result. My biggest issue is that my kitty has decided it is a great napping spot!

Keep on quilting,
Sue

RSC16 Orange Update

I managed to produce a few more orange blocks this week. But I have now pretty much eliminated my orange scraps since I didn't have many to begin with.

A few more Garlic Knot blocks...

And a few appliqued circle blocks for Quilt 365...

Linking up with the RSC16 Saturday check-in.

Meanwhile, I have been playing catch up on purple blocks from March and I have started sorting through some brown scraps (February's color scheme) as well.

Tomorrow will be spent doing some reorganization in the sewing room. Things have gotten a little out of control. I will be straightening things up, rearranging, creating a big rectangular ironing surface, and adding a design wall. I am sure I won't get it all done tomorrow but I want to get a good start on it. Wish me luck!

RSC16 - Joining the party a little late

I just discovered the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at So Scrappy. Each month brings a new color assignment and the challenge is to create quilt blocks using your scraps from that color family.

I have decided to work on 2 different blocks throughout the year. Hopefully, by the end of the year I will have enough of each block to put together a quilt. My first block will be a log cabin made with 1-1/2" strips. I am aiming for a quilt like the one depicted here - Log Cabin Love. The second block will be made with 2" strips like the one shown here - Garlic Knots.

The color theme for April is Monarch - orange with black or brown highlights. I don't have a lot of orange in my stash so I will also use this month to catch up on the color theme from March - purple with a dash of yellow.

Here is my progress so far...

Hope you had some quilty fun today too!
